Selbstähnlichkeit

Selbstähnlichkeit is an experimental short, produced by rendering images of virtual objects and sceneries and projecting back these images onto the virtual objects instantly.

The principle can be likened to pointing a video camera back at the screen it is connected to and exploring the resulting patterns of feedback — the difference being that screens are mostly flat, while the objects in virtual space can take any kind of shape and even change over time.

Selbstähnlichkeit was produced in 2002 with a custom built 3d engine and the help of Andrei Parvu who provided the necessary video editing expertise and infrastructure. Additionally, several high resolution prints were created in 2005.
